Since taking office, affordability and protecting taxpayers have remained among Brenda’s top priorities. She has supported efforts to eliminate real property taxes in Pennsylvania, including an amendment that would have constitutionally prohibited real property taxation statewide. She has also sponsored legislation to eliminate Pennsylvania’s unfair MS4 “rain tax” and worked to bring greater accountability and transparency to rising utility costs.

Brenda believes families, seniors and small businesses deserve to keep more of what they earn. When costs increase, taxpayers and ratepayers deserve to know why, where their money is going and who is responsible.

Public safety is also a priority. Brenda has sponsored legislation to help Pennsylvania’s fire departments recruit and retain the volunteers they depend on. She has also sponsored legislation strengthening Pennsylvania’s commercial driver requirements, including English-language proficiency standards so CDL drivers can understand road signs and emergency messages and effectively communicate while operating large commercial vehicles on our highways.

Brenda believes strongly that we can give law enforcement the tools necessary to fight crime without sacrificing the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. She is advancing legislation to establish statewide standards for automated license plate readers (ALPRs) that protect Fourth Amendment rights and guard against the surveillance of law-abiding citizens while preserving ALPR technology as an important law-enforcement tool.

At the heart of Brenda’s approach to government is a fundamental belief that government closest to the people works best.

That principle is especially important as Pennsylvania faces increasing pressure from large-scale data-center development. Brenda is fighting for stronger local control so municipalities and the people who live there have a meaningful voice in what happens in their own communities. She believes economic development should never come at the expense of our agricultural land, residential neighborhoods or the character of the communities we call home.

Brenda is also committed to holding government accountable and she believes that responsibility starts with elected officials themselves. Taxpayers deserve to know where their money is going and whether government is delivering results. Brenda applies that same standard to herself, choosing not to seek taxpayer reimbursement for eligible mileage or meals while carrying out her responsibilities as State Representative.

For Brenda, it is simple: She asked for this job. Getting to work and paying for her own meals are her responsibility not the taxpayers’.

Brenda has also worked aggressively to bring state resources home to the 120th District, helping secure millions of dollars in competitive grants for municipalities, schools and community projects. Those investments have supported public safety, transportation, infrastructure, parks, schools and other improvements while helping reduce the burden those projects could otherwise place on local taxpayers.

But representing the 120th District is about much more than legislation, votes and what happens inside the Capitol. It means showing up, listening to the people she represents, being accessible when they need help and working to solve problems.

Brenda’s priorities remain the same ones she brought to Harrisburg: making Pennsylvania more affordable, protecting taxpayers and constitutional rights, strengthening public safety, supporting good-paying jobs, preserving local control and demanding accountability from government.

There is still more work to do.

Brenda will continue working every day to deliver results for the people of the 120th Legislative District and ensure Northeastern Pennsylvania has a strong voice in Harrisburg.
